Miss Nicky - Dance School Principal
Nicky started dancing from a very early age and it became clear very quickly that she was born to dance.
By the age of 13 Nicky had been North West ballroom and Latin champion 5 times and principle dancer in various pantomimes at the Grand Theatre Blackpool. Upon leaving school Nicky was awarded a scholarship to attend Merseyside dance and drama centre where not only did she gain her teaching diploma in ISTD but was also the head girl.
Straight from college Nicky's career as a performer began and it has taken her all over the world and spans 34 years. Nicky has been lucky enough to perform in many fantastic shows both in theaters and cruise ships and has worked with many famous faces along the way including Robert De Niro, Bradley Walsh, Joe Longthorne, Freddie Starr, Cannon and Ball, Billy Pearce, Barbera Windsor and the very fabulous Will i am where Nicky danced with him on the advert for "The Voice".Nicky is now a trustee on the bobby ball foundation where she choreographs shows and helps to raise money for this amazing charity, Nicky says "Bobby was a very special friend of mine and it is an honour to be part of the foundation".
For 9 years of Nicky's career she danced in the world renowned show "Spirit Of The Dance" performing in various countries and to which she became the lead dancer and company manager. At age 30 Nicky decided it was time to open her own school and pass her experience and ability on to others and this is when Centre Stage Academy was born. In the 19 years that Nicky has been the principal of the school her pupils have performed in many shows per year ranging from her own productions to professional pantomimes and even gone on to have careers of their own in entertainment.
Nicky still performs in productions across the UK including the Betty legs diamond UK theatre tour and the massive arena production of elf the musical.
Mr Nicky
Nicky Alexander has been a dancer, choreographer and teacher for over 40 years in a career that has seen him travel the world. He trained at the Theatre School of Dance and Drama in Edinburgh and The London Studio Centre London.
He danced with Scottish Opera and The English National Opera and performed in the former USSR with Liama Vaikule as well her American tour.
Choreography credits include Alton Towers Beatrix Potter on Ice, Mystique at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Olympic Cruises, First Choice Cruises, Thomson Cruises and most recently Marella Cruises. Gandeys Circus in Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong and Qatar as well as UK and International tours and most recently at the Butlins venues throughout the UK.
Television Credits include Sky One, STV, ZSF and Endemol. Nicky currently teaches at Nicky Figgins Dance Academy in Bispham and loves passing his love of dance onto the next generation while still continuing an active career.
Miss Emily
Emily Hails from Blackpool and began performing at a young age. On leaving school, Emily decided to further her training and was granted a place at PCD where she studied a 3 year course in dance. Whilst at college, Emily obtained her teaching certificates in tap, modern and ballet with the prestigious ISTD syllabus. Whilst at college Emily was awarded the commitment to college award and modern theatre dancer of the year.
Emily’s credits include; English Youth Ballet, Alice in Wonderland, Carry on Whittington, Jersey Beats UK and International Tour, Netflix films, Resident cast member at Viva Blackpool, Boogie Nights, Jack and the beanstalk, Circus Spectacular theatre tour, Elf the musical.
Emily is currently working for showcase productions as lead female vocalist.
Miss Beth
Just a little bit about me, Throughout my Career as a Dancer having danced from the age of 3 at Langley Dance Academy I have had so many amazing opportunities in the dancing industry from such a young age having danced in our annual Spotlight Show in the famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom to also performing regularly in Blackpool Towers Circus Pantomime & Also the Yearly Show as a circusette, to even be lucky enough to perform as a principle part as there prince in there pantomime Cinderella!
Throughout the years I have been lucky enough to dance at Disneyland Paris, also to have been chosen to represent my dance school in the Janet Cram awards for 2 years!
I then went along to study at Studio La Pointe - on their musical theatre course & was lucky enough in my 1st year of training to be offered at the age of 18 my career as a showgirl which progressed onto my 3 years as Dance Captain & magicians assistant/ double in the outstanding High-Jinx magic and illusion show! To be very fortunate enough to work with some Outstanding Performers themselves being, Bobby Ball, Darren Day, Joe LongThorne, Jedward, Boy George & have been very lucky to assist choreographing along side Nicky Figgins for the amazing John Conway in there production of Peter Pan!
I absolutely love teaching & get to work with some of the most talented teachers, choreographers & Dancers whilst also currently choreographing for our comp team!
Currently teaching “British Ice Skating champions” & working along side there talented coaches who have been professional skaters on “Dancing On Ice”.
I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds in store at Nicky Figgins Dance Academy & using my skillset to advance the students in their acro & dancing capability.
Coach Salim
Salim’s love for acrobatics first started in PE at school, he then joined the street acrobats and started training and performing in the hotels, clubs and theatres in Kenya.
Acrobatics gave him an opportunity to travel the world and perform in the biggest venues in Europe like the Monte Carlo festival in Monaco, the World Circus festival in Moscow Russia, international Circus festival in Netherland and many more….. the list goes on… with his most recent at the Glastonbury festival in the UK.
For personal reasons Salim gave up everything for almost 10 years. Then when his daughter was 5, she joined an acro activity club where Salim was inspired by the coaches and decided to join in, and that's when Coach Salim was born.
Salim is a qualified Gymnastics/Acrobatics Coach, Flexibility Coach and PT/Fitness Coach.
He enjoys tumbling, hand balancing, calisthenics and of course coaching all of these skills as well!
